Using Scene Constraints during the Calibration Procedure

چکیده
This paper focuses on the problem of calibration from a single view and a map of a scene. This situation arises quite often when modelling urban scenes, e.g. for augmented reality purposes. We show how some scenes constraints can be used to achieve a calibration like procedure. An example excerpted from a sequence of pictures for which selfcalibration-like techniques consistently fail illustrates some of the benefits of the approach.

A Scheme for Combining Auto-calibration and Scene Constraints
A scheme for combining auto-calibration and scene constraints in the “structure-from-motion” problem is proposed. This scheme focuses on the recovery of the absolute quadric using auto-calibration while imposing orthogonal scene plane constraints. First, an initial estimate of the absolute quadric is obtained using a linear method. A nonlinear constrained optimization step is then applied to re...
متن کاملUsing Geometric Constraints for Camera Calibration and Positioning and 3d Scene Modelling
This work concerns the incorporation of geometric information in camera calibration and 3D modelling. Using geometric constraints enables stabler results and allows to perform tasks with fewer images. Our approach is interactive; the user defines geometric primitives and constraints between them. It is based on the observation that constraints such as coplanarity, parallelism or orthogonality, ...
متن کاملCombining Scene and Auto-Calibration Constraints
We present a simple approach to combining scene and auto-calibration constraints for the calibration of cameras from single views and stereo pairs. Calibration constraints are provided by imaged scene structure, such as vanishing points of orthogonal directions, or rectified planes. In addition, constraints are available from the nature of the cameras and the motion between views. We formulate ...
متن کامل3D Structure Recovery and On-line Calibration using Known Angles
A new calibration algorithm using only angles is presented. The proposed algorithm is based on the simple idea of the invariance of angles under the similarity transformation. Stratified calibration approaches using various scene constraints including angles have been proposed. However, the proposed algorithm uses only one type of scene constraint of angle, while directly recovering Euclidean s...
متن کاملRefining Single View Calibration With the Aid of Metric Scene Properties
Intrinsic camera calibration using a single image is possible provided that certain geometric objects such as orthogonal vanishing points and metric homographies can be estimated from the image and give rise to adequate constraints on the sought calibration parameters. In doing so, however, any additional metric information that might be available for the imaged scene is not always straightforw...
